Job Summary

 

Unskilled and semi-skilled plumbing-related work installing, maintaining, repairing, and operating irrigation systems. 

 

Essential Functions

 

Percent of Job

1.    Inspects, installs, maintains, and repairs irrigation systems and related sprinkler equipment and associated plumbing fixtures in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory standards.

2.    Reviews technical specifications and related design data to include blueprints, electrical diagrams and schematics.

3.    Inspects and programs irrigation-related time clocks.

4.    Develops parts and supply list for assigned projects.

10%

5.    Keeps records of time and material used.

10%

6.    Maintain parts inventory.

10%

7.    Hand excavates underground piping and associated irrigation infrastructure.

10%

8.    Operates trenches, compactors, power, and hand tools.

10%

9.    Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Open Requirements:  A three (3)-year combination of education, training, or plumbing experience which involved the installation, repair, or operation of irrigation systems.  Must have the physical ability to meet the physical demands of this job and perform the essential functions.

Licensing/Certification/Registration:  A valid Florida driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) 

  • Knowledge of the techniques, methods, practices, and procedures used in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of irrigation systems
  • Knowledge of equipment, tools, and supplies required to install, maintain, repair, and operate irrigation systems
  • Knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Basic oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to care for and properly use irrigation system-related equipment and tools
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply job-related information and materials including blue prints, electrical diagrams, schematic drawings, and equipment and safety manuals
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
