Job Summary

Develops and implements accounting and auditing procedures relative to school internal accounts, full-time equivalent reporting, and other district functions as approved by the School Board in the annual audit plan or otherwise directed by the Superintendent and/or the School Board.

Essential Functions

1. Conducts internal audits of school and District departments.
2. Reviews audit reports and conducts audit conferences with Principals and department heads.
3. Investigates and determines causes for irregularities and errors.
4. Discerns problem areas out of compliance and makes recommendations for correction.
5. Develops and recommends new procedures to increase efficiency.
6. Responds to inquiries regarding interpretation and application of policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting or a related field, from an accredited college or university.  Emphasis on courses in accounting and auditing.

Experience:  Three (3) years experience in auditing, accounting, budgeting, and/or management of audits department.

• Knowledge of basic accounting and auditing theories, principles, and practices
• Knowledge of Florida Educational Cost Accounting (FTE)
• Skill in the use of auditing techniques, facility or oral and written expression
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills
• Strong auditing skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong detail orientation skills
• Ability to produce accurate work under strict timelines
