Job Summary

 

Serves as liaison between the Safe Schools Department and district schools regarding the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Provides support services, training, and technical assistance. Provides input in specific PBIS strategies such as developing school-side behavior plans and monitoring them for fidelity.

 

Essential Functions

 

1. Maintains successful and continuous communication with school personnel and administrators regarding positive behavior interventions and supports.
2. Visits schools to observe the PBIS process, provide support and/or technical assistance as appropriate.
3. Assists in development and/or revision of the School-Wide PBIS Plan.
4. Assists in development and implementation of in-service training for school staff.
5. Provides training to school-based Foundations Teams on PBIS content as determined through school data (rubrics, surveys, site visits)
6. Provides district-based training consistent with individual areas of expertise (CHAMPS, Tough Kid, Anti-Bullying, Restorative Justice, Second Step, and SESIR). 
7. Provides ongoing training for Deans of Discipline and In School Suspension Teachers.
8. Assists in developing and updating monitoring tools such as rubrics and checklists
9. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

 

Experience:  Five (5) years teaching experience.

 

Certifications & Licenses:  Florida Department of Education certification.

  • Working knowledge of PBIS policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and district legislation, policies and standards
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to conduct trainings on a variety of topics
  • Ability to support schools in exceptional education eligibility determinations
  • Ability to improve and develop curriculum materials
  • Ability to implement models of instructional and behavioral interventions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to prepare reports
  • Ability to interpret data
