TEACHER STARTING SALARY IS $48,700. Additional Referendum money is available for the next four years starting at $5400 for the 24-25 school year; teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement amount based on the date of hire.

Job Summary
 
Advocates for all students to meet graduation requirements. Coordinates and problem solves with stakeholders to increase graduation rates, college readiness rates, and acceleration participation and performance.
 
Essential Functions 
 

1. Coordinates with applicable stakeholders to improve graduation rates for all populations. Monitors credit recovery options and participation; maximization of SAT and ACT test waivers and opportunities; inclusion and effectiveness of wrap around services; and tracking and monitoring of student withdrawals.

2. Utilizes district reports to accurately identify the graduation and at-risk graduation cohorts.

3. Conducts an analysis focused on data for individual students and subgroups.

4. Creates a database of all students in the current year’s graduation cohort. Monitors all graduation components; reviews weekly; and intervenes where necessary.

5. Identifies students scheduled to graduate on special diploma.

6. Identifies potential for, and enrollment in, accelerated coursework for all high school students.

7. Distributes and tracks fee waivers for SAT/ACT Assessments.

8. Facilitates the SAT/ACT Registration for students.

9. Works with the Assistant Principal overseeing the second 800 Points. Tracks and predicts the graduation rate, the at-risk graduation rate, and all modules to the High School Grading Component throughout the school year.

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications 

 

Education:  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
 
Experience:  Two (2) years teaching or school counseling experience with evidence of leadership ability.  
 
Certifications & Licenses:  Florida Department of Education Certificate. Certificate in Guidance Counseling preferred.  
 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of federal, state and district legislation, policies and procedures related to dropout prevention program operations
  • Knowledge of College Board and ACT registration process
  • Knowledge of high school promotion criteria
  • Knowledge of local and state graduation criteria
  • Knowledge of dropout prevention and recovery strategy
  • Knowledge of drop-out prevention programs
  • Knowledge of High School curricular offerings
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge of the New Generation Sunshine State Standards
  • Knowledge of state and local assessments
  • Knowledge of the Duval County Public Schools Student Progression Plan
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
