Job Summary
 
Serves as the direct school liaison between the district and all teachers of exceptional students within the school.  Provides training and information regarding compliance of federal, state, and district initiatives. Serves as the Local Education Agency (LEA) designee when requested.  Mentors and supports teachers of students with disabilities.

 

Essential Functions
1. Assists principal or designee with scheduling all students with disabilities appropriately according to services on the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
2. Facilitates implementation of federal, state, and district policies and procedures.
3. Monitors, coordinates, and attends IEP meetings and facilitates accurate data entry into Genesis.
4. Mentors and/or coaches teachers of students with disabilities.
5. Serves as direct school liaison for all teachers and paraprofessionals of students with disabilities.
6. Assists teacher with school-based concerns and needs.
7. Attends district training sessions and trains school staff on compliance elements and preferred methodologies for
teaching students with disabilities.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Master's degree in related field preferred.
Experience:  Three (3) years experience working with students with disabilities
Certifications & Licenses:  Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in appropriate subject area.  
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities  
  • Knowledge of compliance with federal, state, and district regulations with regard to Individual Education Plans and least restrictive environment
  • Knowledge of responsibilities of a designee of the Local Education Agency (LEA)
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
  • Strong training development and delivery skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to provide well-structured trainings to faculty and staff regarding preferred teaching strategies and accommodations for students with disabilities
