Job Summary
 
The Physical Therapist (PT)'s primary function is to facilitate an individual student's optimal level of mobility/function in the educational setting.  As part of Individuals with Disabilities Educational Act (IDEA), PT's are members of the multidisciplinary school team that ensures a free and appropriate education for students with disabilities to prepare them for further education, employment, and independent living. 

  

Essential Functions
 
1. Provision of Services - Directs treatment of student according the plan of care defined in the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
2. Documentation – Develops a daily schedule, completes daily notes and billing requirements, and documents progress per school requirements and parent request.  Prepares written evaluation summaries, updates IEPs (at least annually), and equipment usage documentation.
3. Evaluation/Re-evaluation including MRT and IEP - Assesses motor abilities and how the student interacts within his/her environment, as it pertains to the educational setting. Reviews student records and available medical information, including consultations with parents and community/medical service providers as needed.  Collaborates with other teams members and determines appropriate service provision and possible equipment use.
4. Consultation/In-service - Provides in-services and consultations with school staff regarding normal development, therapeutic interventions, the use of educationally relevant adaptive equipment, and workplace safety involving lifting/carrying/positioning.
5. Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications
Education:  Bachelor's degree or higher in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university.
Experience:  One (1) year of experience in pediatrics is preferred although will consider new graduate.  Salary is based on verified years of experience.
Certifications & Licenses:  Licensed to practice physical therapy in the State of Florida.
