Job Summary

 

Plans, organizes, and administers cost effective School Food Service program operations. 

Provides an environment that supports healthy food habits of students while maintaining program integrity, fiscal accountability, and customer satisfaction.

 

Essential Functions

 

1. Establishes an environmentally responsible school nutrition program

2. Administers the Food Service Management Contract, and related contracts to the Foodservice Program

3. Manages the financial aspects, including budget preparation and execution that supports the foodservice program operational goals and complies with regulations.

4. Oversees the purchasing of commodity foods and kitchen equipment for schools and the Nutrition Service Center

5. Establishes the Foodservice capital plan for all schools and Nutrition Service Center developing long range and annual capital outlays and budgets for food service capital planning, design, construction, and major maintenance projects.

6. Overseas the School Food Service policies, procedures, and processes

7. Establishes a communication infrastructure with stakeholders to promote the school nutrition program.

8. Provides leadership in creating a safe work environment for school nutrition operations.

9. Advises senior management on school food service contract support program issue or unusual events.

10. Serves as the Principal of the South Side Resource Center

11. Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

 

Education:  Master’s degree in Food Service Management, Food Services Systems Administration, Institutional Food Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Administrative Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, or related field of study preferred.

 

Experience:  Five (5) years of progressively responsible food service administrative management experience in a high volume, multi-facility organization.  Public School food service experience preferred.

 

Certifications & Licenses:  Registered, Licensed Dietitian thorough the Commission of Dietetic Registration preferred. Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association ServSafe certification preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Knowledge of US Department of Agriculture Regulations related to school food services
  • Knowledge of School Meals Administrative Reviews
  • Knowledge of State of Florida policies, rules, regulations, and statues related to school food services
  • Ability to display an understanding of area of dietetics as it relates to school age children.
  • Strong operational and financial report development skills
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
  • Strong supervisory management skills
  • Ability to organize, control, and direct large school food service programs
  • Ability to develop and manage school food service budgets
  • Ability to design workflows and procedures
  • Ability to effectively facilitate meetings
  • Ability to implement continuous improvement processes
