Job Summary

 

Administers and supports Career and Technical Education (CTE)  systems in a distributed environment, specifically assigned to the CTE Office work location. Provides technical support and guidance to users.  This classification lies above that of Technology Services Technician II and below that of Technology Services Technician IV – Career and Technical Education.

  

Essential Functions

 

1. Troubleshoot, repair and maintain CTE technology equipment, associated devices and various resource instructional equipment. This includes desktop lab set-up and maintenance for all CTE computer labs K-12 and laptop carts, specialized CTE training aid equipment for programs, and virtual learning environments. 

2. Responds to trouble calls, resolves complex problems, and refers more complicated problems to a higher-level technician and/or supervisor. Explores and implements mobile learning solutions tailored to CTE. 

3. Maintains relationships with internal IT personnel and external vendors and companies to ensure appropriate and complete implementation of CTE software at various schools.

4. Troubleshoot and repair various electronic devices and equipment to the board and/or component level.

5. Provides technical assistance and instructs end users regarding the operation and care of assigned equipment.

6. Documents, maintains, and implements processes and procedures including, but not limited to, warranty work, preventive maintenance, disaster recovery, security plans, asset management and computer inventory as specified by different CTE funding sources, and training/resource material.

7. Collaborates with instructors from various CTE disciplines to integrate technology. Coordinates with instructors and industry partners to facility device preparation relevant to the industry certification or digital tool certification being tested, this could include proctoring of exams. Manages and supports all active software and training licenses in support of certification testing and CTE curriculum. 

8. Develops and maintains process documentation to include scope of work for internal department activities, training manuals for staff and teachers related to industry certification testing, and grant compliance related to inventory and device use. 

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Probation: One (1) year

 

Qualifications

 

Open Requirements:  

  

A five (5) year combination of education, training and experience in repair, installing, configuring and maintaining technology systems and associated devices; detailed operation of hardware and software systems and various other resource instructional equipment.

 

Education may be substituted for experience for coursework, major, or degree; in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; as follows: twelve (12) semester hours of course work for one (1) year of experience; an Associate’s degree for two (2) years; or a Bachelor’s degree for four (4) years of experience.

  

Promotional Requirements:

All permanent employees of the unit who have served for two (2) years in the class of Technology Services Technician II- Career and Technical Educationare eligible to take the test for Technology Services Technician III - Career and Technical Education.

 

Licensing: 

A valid Florida driver’s license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.  May be required to furnish an automobile in good condition for use on School Board business, for which mileage compensation will be paid.
